I enjoyed my hike of the Lincoln Trail in June, which is a longer and less traveled way up Kearsarge. I would recommend starting at the end of Mastin Road by the high school to avoid all the deforestation. Super quiet and rewarding views, from Black Mountain and the summit.
Challenging on winter, but highly recommended
There is nothing like the untouched wilderness! The peaceful sounds, raw fresh air, critters everywhere, just feels like home! Today's journey led me to some beautiful wildlife. Deer, beavers, birds, so relaxing. I go tech-free to detach, so no pics this round. Maybe next time I'll make an exception, bring my camera. My opinion is this is the best time of year to go hiking, no bugs, dehydration, no \over/under-dressing\. I totally reccomend this spot, or even anywhere in woods, there are paths everywhere, or go where there isn't;the forest's are plentiful in NH, take time/make time from your daily grind, go solo, and reflect (anytime of year). It makes for a healthy soul.
Well marked
I was so disappointed by the ugly deforestation that has happened here. So much that i could not enjoy the quick hike up to Black Mountain Forest. Its sad to see and feel the lack of spirit among the once majestic boulders. Its just sad.
