Menokin was a wonderful fun step back in time! This important treasure is being lovingly restored but with glass!!! There is a lot of found materials and excavation of the Lightfoot-Lee family. As locals we know the visitor center is chuck full of information and belongings of the house and family. We were not able to see center, as it was closed. But we did get to meet Sheriff English who responded to the alarm we accidentally set off!! He was very informative and a pleasure to learn from...and he was forgiving to our mishap. Our out-of-town guest got a bit more than they were expecting in more ways than one!! We did drive down to Cat Point Creek. What a lovely peaceful place to kayak or just hike to. This is one of our favorite places to bring guests.

My two grandsons and I went to \Makers Day\ in June. I believe it was the first annual. We had the BEST TIME!! We only intended to stay maybe an hour to and hour and a half and ended up staying over THREE HOURS! They had many interesting and hands on things to do such as making birdhouses, making sun prints using leaves, making sun catchers from scratch and brick making! We also took a tour of the Menokin House which we actually got to walk inside of and hear the history. The best part of the whole day is that my two grandsons (ages 14 and 9) never ONCE said \I'm bored\ or \Is it time to go yet?\ or anything like that. They LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Their favorite was the brick making (of course!) and mine was the making the sun catchers. I would definitely take them again next year!! It was so fun! Thank you to everyone that did all the work to make that happen :)
