Wow I just called to inquire about the apartments and asked to speak to someone in leasing office- the young lady was extremely rude and said that she would be the one to talk to but she couldn't talk at the moment and hung up (without asking me my information for a call back)!
I lived here for almost two years, from 2010 to 2012. The management companies were Daro and then EJF - I thought Daro was better with communication and much more responsive with maintenance issues. I loved this old 1930s building, it has a lot of old Deco touches. My particular unit was a strange one - apparently a larger apartment had been split into two smaller ones, and as a result my unit had a really weird layout. It also only had one outlet in the entire kitchen, which was a major issue when trying to use anything like a coffee grinder, mixer, etc. I had one major plumbing issue caused by old pipes, but it was eventually fixed. The lobby tended to flood whenever it rained hard for a couple days in a row, no matter how many sandbags they put down. I went by last year, in 2016, and noticed a lot of renovations. I would consider living there again, if the units have been updated. The location was great - very convenient to Takoma Park metro, downtown Silver Spring, and the 70 bus straight down Georgia Ave to Petworth, Shaw, Chinatown, etc. I used to bike from the Dahlia to Georgetown where I worked, and it was a really pleasant ride. With the new development of the old Walter Reed complex - which is directly across the street - it'll get even better, and I'm sure the rents will climb.
