Took the 11 and 9 year old after school for a trial and first lesson. Angie was great with the kids, kept then engaged and got to the fun stuff as quickly as was safe. Well be back for real classes!

Fencing can be an intimidating (and complicated!) sport to start, but the staff at Washington Fencing Academy do a fantastic job at helping you select what is right for you or your child (they currently offer 2 different weapons: Saber & Epee). Recently, WFA got a new head coach (Atilio Tass) who brings with him a deep passion for teaching the art of fencing, which is obvious the first time you experience a class with him. In addition to the 18 years he spent coaching fencing at Brown University, I was personally surprised to learn that he actually went to school (like College) for fencing back in Hungary as a young adult - that is a whole lifetime dedicated to fencing! Teachers aside, the club also has a great supportive atmosphere for both new and experienced competitors alike. Highly recommended!
