I needed a real tailor for competent alterations, in the Washington area. My search using “tailor” as a key word led me to Michael Andrews Bespoke. I was pleased by their straight forward approach to what they offered. The products and prices were made clear up front – no complicated pricing scheme. Their web site shows right away they are ready to serve the young upwardly mobile professional. But that isn’t me – I’m old enough to collect Social Security and I’ve had suits made for me in in Bangkok, Baltimore, NYC and Savile Row. I chose their “Ultimo” which included 3 fittings and 32 individual measurements in my case. Michael Andrews, (the owner who is also an expert at fitting) did all the fitting for me at their shop. I was absolutely not rushed and all my questions were welcomed with sincerity, not an attitude. Many men think a suit fits if they can button the jacket and the sleeves and trouser legs are somewhere in the ball park. I think men would want more and should want more from a suit, if they really knew what to look for. Michael freely gives the knowledge needed to know the difference between good enough at Jos. Banks and clothes that are truly unique and fashioned for you personally. When the suit was completely finished I picked it up and the final try-on was a dream. Michael Andrews “over-delivered”! I felt better in this suit than in any previous bespoke product, including my suit from the ‘Row’. At that visit I ordered two more suits and will order many more. The fabric selection is vast, not just for suits but also for odd jackets, trousers, top coats and shirts. The advice and recommendations were top drawer. Michael Andrews is now my “go to” tailor.
