My sister, a patient of Dr. Bangura, was experiencing a higher level of anxiety than usual the past couple of months. During a recent visit, she shared what was currently going on in her life with the doctor. Afterwards, Dr. Bangura not only helped my sister understand the probable cause of her elevated feelings of anxiety, she offered resources and advice, etc. that could be helpful for my sister to use to help work out some of the sources of the extra stress. Yesterday my sister shared with me a couple of extraordinary suggestions from Dr. Bangura, and I was so happy to hear the relief in her voice. Also, the information was priceless and right on point! Dr. Bandura is the best doctor in her field! She is a true gift sent to help others - not just give them drugs, and/or medication. That is caring, and love - I'm sure this is what all doctors aspire to be to & for their patients. Thank God for Dr. Bangura!

Dealing with mental health challenges is always difficult. But one key to that is knowing you are not alone. NAMI's group sessions (on Wednesday night, 7-9 as of this review) provide people a place to go and find community both for those struggling with mental health challenges and their families. Extremely worthwhile, and difficult work. My sense is the other reviews here relate to the fact that anger, disaffection, and loneliness are themselves mental health challenges, and ones that may lead people to post overly negative reviews. NAMI is doing difficult and worthwhile work here.
The other reviewers have got it. ABUSIVE VILE BARBARIC practices ALL endorsed by this bunch of thugs and phonies. Better off just going to the police and telling them to ****us.
NAMI drug pushers junk mail spammers, stop sending my mother newsletters !! When you call things what they are, it’s very clear. NAMI is essentially SPONSORED by DRUG COMPANIES and what’s true in television and radio certainly holds true in large organizations — Never go against the sponsors. It is the one golden rule . It takes a lot of nerve to call your organization a patients’ advocacy group when half to two-thirds of your funding comes from companies that are constantly facing class action lawsuits, federal lawsuits or both for not disclosing adverse findings in clinical trials, lying about known health risks, directly causing death and chemical injury and illegally marketing their most powerful and unpredictable drugs off label. NAMI could hardly be more blatant in aligning their methods with the commercial interests of these companies.
What has NAMI DC have done for people with mental disabilities? Nothing at all. But lying to the IRS and to the DC tax payers. Ms. Jean Harris is a crook she prays on people with mental illness here in the District that really is not a NAMI Chapter and her family meetings are not NAMI model.. She has never been trained under NAMI either
