Nice memorial that is often overlooked. There's a sign by the water, just in front of the museum. Tip: Read the sign there because there's no informational sign when you're actually in the memorial. Another tip: Be quiet and you can hear the recorded sounds of chanting/singing. Enjoy!

Beautiful place.
Although covid kept us from entering, the peace and calm we felt as we walked around the structure made our journey easier. Aho.
After 25 years in progress, the National Native American Veterans Memorial opened on Veterans Day November 11, 2020. The memorial is right next to the main doors of the National Museum of the American Indian at 3rd and Independence Avenue SW. Unlike the museum, the memorial is open 24/7, rain or shine. Follow the signs to the entrance and walk down the winding path to the memorial. Harvey Pratt designed a stainless-steel circle on top of a stone drum with water running around it. Nearby are benches for reflection and poles for people to tie cloth in honor of veterans. Speakers blast a tribute to Native Americans who served in the U.S. military.
