Reren has the best xiao long bao (soup dumplings) we've found in DC proper, and their crazy fish (crispy fresh fish cooked with garlic, onion, tomato, and red pepper) is also fantastic--crispy, fresh, light, and tastes of the underlying fish (usually wahoo) with no fishi-ness. Our favorite lamen is the dan-dan noodles wiyh extra bok choy--housemade noodles, balanced flavors, and large enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. The dry fried spicy chicken is also on point. Good chicken flavor, no joke hot and numbing, plenty to share. Small, immigrant family owned business in Chinatown. I can’t speak much about the other dishes, but my go to is always the signature Dan Dan Lamen! I’ve visited prior to Covid and gotten take out once during Covid, and never had a bad experience. The staff has always been friendly. The Lamen choices are always a favorite.
Best Chinese food in DC. This restaurant caters to more traditional chinese cuisine and is a bit less Americanized than the other chinese restaurants in the area. We ordered the pepper chicken and the spicy wontons which is one of our favorites to get when in town. Make sure you order way in advance if you decide to do pick up/take out. Estimated wait times are a little over 1 hour. Might have just been busy because it was Chinese New Year so plan ahead!

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, ordering was fine over the phone! And pick up is fine too. The ChengeDu Spicy Wontons are SO good, I wish I ordered 2 orders so I could eat it all. The passion fruit bubble tea was very delicious, as well as the mango! Speedy service, great packaging of the food, and I’m satisfied overall about my experience. Staff was very nice after I called multiple times asking about flavors of bubble tea (because I forgot them the first time they told me). Super great food and I’m really glad to have tried it!
