They create ads that go in webpage sidebars. The ads play on page load, and there is no choice about it. Some ads used to have a mute button, but (Dec 10, 2014) that's no longer the case on what I'm seeing. So the only way you can escape the annoyance is to mute your computer entirely. Miserable if you are multi-tasking, listening to a webcast while researching in other tabs. And annoying no matter what you're doing. A misery.
