A nice place for your overall development, rich history dating back to 1644. The oldest restored working water-powered mill in the USA. Entrance 25. Absolutely happy I spent some tine there after lunch nearby.

I love this place. I went there on a field trip in 1975. I finally had a chance to go back.
Unfortunately the day I was here it was closed Tuesday. The mill was built 1644, and was the first watermill. From the outside does look impressive and unfortunately was closed when I was there.
transcendental artist Agnes Pelton lived in the Hayground Watermill from 1921-1925'ish, she wrote that it was 'cold, drafty, poorly insulated' but that she 'loved it, felt contented, and happy' while there. she must be my kindred spirit!
Very interesting historical exhibits. I especially liked learning about commercial ice harvesting in late 1800s. When we visited there was a quilt exhibit which was also amazing.
