If I could give 10 stars, I would. I had extensions put in my hair from another salon and it was a nightmare. The girls at A Cut Above spent 6 hours removing extensions and reapplying correctly. Jessica is young, but is naturally talented hairdresser. She does my hair perfectly every time. If you are looking to get extensions, I highly recommend her. She is very we trained in how to apply so that the hair looks and feels natural. Below is a picture of my hair with the extensions. I'm going to try to find a before pic so you can see the difference between what hairpins like when done correctly by a well trained professional versus how it looks when applied incorrectly.

I am a new client to Meg and I have been so happy!! My hair was blah and in dire need of some love. Meg gave me an amazing color and cut. This salon is so clean and everyone in the salon is a complete professional. I never feel like I am being sold anything I don't want or need. Highly recommend this place. Not only am I thrilled with their service, but I have seen first hand the other clients that leave. A work always. Client for life!

My daughter got married on Halloween and A Cut Above did the wedding party and brought in a make-up artist to do the make-up. She was fabulous (Her name was Tara I believe and she was wonderful). There were 4 people in the wedding party and then of course Mom (me) was included. Everyone of the young ladies looked stunning after they were finished. What I really liked is they all had long hair and they did an individual look for each of them. They were wonderful!!!!!! I live in New Haven and I wanted Raven to do my cut and color before the wedding as I wanted her to be familiar with my hair for the wedding. By far the best color I have ever had (I color my hair red with 100% grey and WOW what a beautiful color). Then Raven was nice enough to fit me in on the Friday before the wedding to do a touch-up. Can't say enough about the A Cut Above but I know I found my new salon. I don't mind the hour drive from New Haven it's worth it.

Depending on my schedule, I either see Raven or Jessica but both are friendly and professional and listen to my hair needs! Their appointment confirmation process ensures I receive adequate reminders and the salon is immaculate.

Ellen Mackey at A Cut Above in Waterford is an Supreme Artist! She has such an understanding of what the customer wants and has a skill to make it happen. She takes pride in her work and has the ultimate goal to satisfy the customer. Her attention to detail is unmeasurable. No matter where this cut/color is parted, the pattern follows through; amazing. Each hairstyle she's done for me comes out a master piece - seriously!
