Alpha Omega Sorority is rated 3 out of 5 in the category philanthropy. Read and write reviews about Alpha Omega Sorority. Alpha Omega Sorority focuses on philanthropy work, overall sisterhood support, academic success, and positive social integration. Alpha Omega is a local sorority meaning everything we do derives from our founding at Laurier. Our sisters in Waterloo have created our own by-laws, which includes a strict no hazing policy. The Alpha Omega motto is “Harmony through Individuality” and sisters genuinely appreciate each young woman’s uniqueness. Although we may have our own strengths and weaknesses, we come together to work hard for our education, raise money for the people and animals that need support, and strive to be the best we can be socially, physically, and emotionally. Our main charity is Anselma House, run by Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. Anselma House is a shelter for women and their children who have dealt with domestic violence and abuse. Through the shelter, women are able to get the necessities and support they need to get back on their feet through rehabilitation and more. Alpha Omega raises money for Anselma House mainly through our annual "Breakfast at Tiffany's" charity brunch, Hoops for Haven, and our bi-annual "Guilty Pleasures" all-you-can-eat bake sale. Our international cause is the Save The Manatee Club. We have adopted Paddy Doyle, a feisty manatee who lives off the coast of Florida. Alpha Omega Raises money for Paddy Doyle through our Greek Week event each year. In the past these have been "AΩ Game Show", "Singing Under the Sea" and "AΩ Game Show".
