People want to know how microbes influence crop growth, the treatment of wastes, and even the human body. Various genomics techniques are now monitoring these communities, and with the costs of these techniques dropping rapidly, scientists and engineers are becoming inundated with large datasets that are hard to process and analyze. At our startup, Amplytica Inc., we are building a cloud platform to facilitate the storage, organization, processing, and exploration of these datasets in order to help our clients microbial communities at scale. We are building a platform to integrate microbial community data with other datasets such as environmental chemical data in order to provide clients with a more complete view of how the microbes they are studying are interacting with their environment. Amplytica is currently an incubee at Velocity at the University of Waterloo and Kamloops Innovation.
