This was the inspiration behind the Mental Health Chatbot. Downloadable on Android devices (and iOS in the near future), it has the ability to provide 24 hour consultation free of charge. The chatbot however does have its limitations, specifically in dealing with more severe cases of mental health such as suicide. In these cases, the chatbot prescribes the individual to seek external assistance and provides multiple different options on how best to seek help. This can range from seeing a local psychiatrist, redirecting to a suicide hotline, or even linking articles that can provide some further assistance. It is due to the chatbots simplicity and versatility that it makes it so effective and useful to any university student. Whether a person is going through something serious, or just needs someone to talk to about a less than optimal day, the chatbot is here for you.
