What a great experience! My husband ordered the 1lb of snow crab with medium LA boil sauce/corn and I ordered the lunch special/corn (included shrimps, craw fish, mussels, clams) with mild LA boil sauce. The sauce was a lot hotter than I expected though. The food was delicious, but a bit on the pricier side. Please also note: LA boil shares an entrance with 168 Sushi.

If you want the real L. A. Boil experience this Waterloo location is NOT for you. I heard about this amazing restaurant one of my friends who lives in Brampton and usually goes to the Mississauga location. Upon locating this restaurant we almost thought we were in the wrong place since L.A. Boil is located inside an Asian buffet restaurant with only a small seating area actually dedicated to L.A. Boil. We should have left right then like our instincts were telling us...if it is inside another restaurant what makes the food better and/or worth paying the extra price? Needless to say we decided to stay and we ordered. The experience that I was described (and seen on their instagram) was seafood that gets served to you in a bag which makes the tastes so flavourful. Well what we got was all of our seafood served on plates...disappointing for sure that we were totally ripped off of the real experience I was expecting. However this restaurant is receiving a 2 star by me because the seafood was actually good at the very. But if it weren't for the food being good this restaurant location would be getting 0 stars by me. The icing on the cake was when we went to pay and were only then told that they do NOT accept debit and only take credit or cash!? What type of a restaurant doesn't accept debit in 2016? Basically forcing people to use credit if they don't have cash...anyways, I will never be going to this location again and it would be a long time before I even attempt the real deal at one of their Toronto locations. All restaurants of L.A. Boil should be run the same since that is what they advertise on their website.
Poor location, inside a different restaurant with completely different themes. It makes it feel embarrassing to use plastic gloves and bibs. Food is not served in a plastic bag to retain heat like the Mississauga branch. We were not given plates to use, which may be alright due to the casual and messy style of LA Boil, but not when there's rice involved. I will say that the food tasted okay to end on a good note.
Location is tricky - it's inside a different restaurant! I got the shrimp and actually found it came with a decent amount, probably 12 large pieces. They've taken away the default bag option and just serve your food on a plate (unless you request a bag) (I thought the bag was the novelty of it?). Other dishes were quite pricey for the size alone
We were sceptical at first once we arrived and saw it was part of 168 sushi but as soon as we entered the hostess explained how it worked and we were quickly seated. All the staff were very helpful. You order on an iPad and they come right to your table. We had the king crab with some corn on the cob and it was exceptional. Ordered it with their la boil sauce and made it medium hot which was hotter than we expected. The decor is excellent and the prices were reasonable especially since they had a drink special at the time. Will go back.
I wasn't expecting much since it's seafood in Waterloo. Overall it was meh. Sauce was meh. Clams and shrimp were small, crab was scarce for price. We were still hungry afterward and ended ordering pizza. Unless for some reason you had to have seafood in a bag, I would pass on this.
I like their seafood style. It is really rare to find this unique cooking style in Canada.
In the window of the resturant it says open until 1am but when we walked in they were rude.
