Really nice and educational nature trail for Waterloo area. One of the nicer ones around for sure. 4km round trip loop, takes about an hour, full of signage on where to go. Not all the signs are up yet but there are directional arrows spray painted on the ground near the posts where signs should be. Half of the trail backs on to backyards of large houses in the area. First part of the trail is probably the most picturesque with some bodies of water especially now that it is fall. Wasn’t too busy on a Saturday. Saw some geese, chipmunks, and snakes on the path. Very neat sundial about halfway through.

nice 4.7km loop trail which represents the 4.7 billion year geological history of the earth. Plenty educational signage posted along the trail at the corresponding distance along the trail for when each time period occurs.

A nice leisurely walk, however during the winter it can get pretty icy so be careful.

Well maintained and well marked trail that goes primarily through a mature forest, but also through other ecosystems. Not a difficult hike at all. The most interesting and unique feature are the numerous plaques that describe the area's history, from about four billion years (!) ago to now. Brilliant idea, and the City of Waterloo and the University of Waterloo deserve full credit for such a novel idea. I found it fascinating. We went at the peak of the autumn leaves turning, and the views of the trees were spectacular. There are a LOT of other trails throughout the woods, so one would imagine you spend a lot of time enjoying nature. That said - the complete ignorance and supreme self centeredness of those that a) do not clean up after their dogs and just leave it on the path and b) those that feel compelled to vandalize educational signs is simply beyond my understanding. There is a parking lot at the beginning, but as it is surrounded by suburbs, one can easily park on the streets if the lot is full.
