Hambledon Vineyard Reviews | Rating 4,8 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Hambledon Vineyard is located in Waterlooville, United Kingdom on East St, Hambledon. Hambledon Vineyard is rated 4.8 out of 5 in the category tourist attraction in United Kingdom. A Labour of Love Hambledon Vineyard is one of the leading quality sparkling wine producers in the UK, located in the village of Hambledon on the South Downs in Hampshire. Today Hambledon comprises over 200 acres spread over numberous vineyard sites. Each vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – the three grape varieties most commonly used in the production of Champagne. Home Vineyard is planted on the steep Southeast-facing slope immediately beneath Mill Down House at between 50 and 100m above sea level. A larger Windmill Down Vineyard spreads across the Southeast-facing slopes to the west of the house and winery. A third vineyard to the east of the house is, unsurprisingly, called East Vineyard! Two other large sites within the village of Hambledon comprise our remaining vines. Making wine is a labour of love and our vineyard team works hard all year round, in all weathers. Our 100,000 established vines must be pruned by hand - like pruning the roses in your garden - and the grapes are handpicked in September and October. Our presses and winery are located on site, which means we can minimize the time between picking and pressing - a crucial factor to ensure the quality of the wine.

A very interesting tour around the vineyard and winery, culmination in a tasting of a couple of glasses of their sparkling wine. Despite some unseasonable weather we enjoyed the tour which lasted about 2 hours. With the current situation, tours are listed to max groups of 10 which is rather nice. No hard sell of the finished product which was also appreciated. On a sunny day you could sit outside overlooking the beautiful views.

We visited for a friends birthday and had a fabulous time on the vineyard tour. Katrina who took us around the establishment was very knowledgable and took us from grape to bottle. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in English sparkling heritage.

Wow ..... Hambledon Vineyard ..... what an experience. We visited you today while taking a short break in Hampshire. Both my husband and I had very little/no knowledge of wine production. Thanks to an amazing tour guide Caron, we have left your vineyard having been extremely well informed and educated on wine production from start to finish. We can now appreciate the time and effort involved in the whole process. And, most importantly we sampled some wine, which we would both have to say was ‘simply superb’. The tour was a real ‘eye opener’, thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend to anyone interested in wine and who happens to be in the area. Thank you Hambledon Vineyard.

Wonderful afternoon tea and vineyard tour for a hen party. Nothing was too much trouble. Very generous with the sparkles for tea!
