Thank you so much for rescuing the barred owl on the ground. And best of luck with the rehabilitation; I know Covid has made it difficult for you.

Went there when we found two baby birds from a tree that fell in our yard. One died on the way there. The owner was very informative and kind. She was incredibly busy as she had no help so she came off a bit brashly but gave us a tour of the facility regardless. Donated to help her out as much as I could. Amazing place and person. To the other reviewers: Maybe remember that it's a bird rehabilitation place and these people are working off their own dime and donations and work 17 hour days. THEY'RE NOT THERE TO GIVE YOU AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY'RE THERE TO SAVE THE LIVES OF BIRDS.

I just called because I found what I thought was an injured bird. I spoke to “Linda” who is quite possibly the most unpleasant person I’ve ever had the displeasure of speaking with. She seemed to care more about not giving away the address than the bird itself. I told her I work full time and have 2 children... a family. She wanted to know the EXACT time I could bring this poor bird in. When I couldn’t give her the exact number down to a T, she became nasty, condescending, rude, sarcastic... just awful. Complaining to me about the long hours she works helping these birds... I literally had to hear her whole sob story! She left such a bad taste in my mouth that I just let the bird go. If you’re not interested in helping the birds, and you’re SO jaded, time to find a new line of work! I’m appalled and disgusted. (The bird was fine when I let it go. I think he possibly hit something and was stunned, or just learning to fly.) For those looking to help an injured animal... I do suggest making this place your very last resort.

I’ve been busy and they are too but the phone calls have been returned both times in one day. She was polite, knowledgeable, gave explanations and helped me understand the problem with the little wren my daughter found. I would highly recommend this rehab center. Unfortunately the little wren didn’t make it. The neighbors treated their lawn for insects. Wrens are insectivores and catch them all day long. Poor little bird was poisoned, presented with neurological/equilibrium issues. Very sad.

I've brought birds to Barnswallow 3X in the last few years. They have always been accommodating, no matter the breed or time of day. I think folks need to realize this work is stressful. The phones can't be manned 24/7. Leave a message, they will return the call. Till then, keep the bird calm in a towel inside a box in a quiet, cool place. Don't feed or water. Please also consider a donation. They do great work over there and I'd like to keep them open for future rescues.
