This is the hippest place in Waukegan for a casual dining experience or a business meeting. The #sushi is always fresh and presented with stupendous attention. Moderate prices for the budget minded.

An absolutely amazing and unexpected gem, tucked away in a former car dealership building in Waukegan. The location may be a little off-putting at first, but you owe it to yourself to try it. Inside is a clean, modern restaurant with a great vibe. We were greeted warmly by the staff and felt immediately welcomed. Peter, our server, was knowledgeable and funny, and he gave us impeccable service. And the food... incredible! Sushi was fresh, innovative, and as delicious as it is beautiful. Chef Rick knows his stuff! The chicken wings at Ikigai are the best we've had anywhere; crunchy bliss! In the week since our first visit, we've been back three times for dinner. Yep, it is THAT good. So happy to have such a wonderful place in Waukegan!

We ordered carry out twice from Ikigai in two weeks. It's super good! So pleased that Waukegan finally has a sushi place and that it's delicious. Prices are fair for a sushi restaurant. They also have ramen & Korean dishes. The encounters I've had with staff have been very pleasant and the restaurant is modern & minimalist inside. We went crazy & ordered fried chicken from next door & sushi from Ikigai. I'm so happy & kind of amazed that these restaurants are in Waukegan. I highly recommend Ikigai!

Pretty decent place this! It feels like a pop up restaurant as the building and materials inside are a little thrown together. The food was quick and tasted alright. I was a little disappointed with the quality of my chicken in the Chicken Teriyaki. Service was fast, prices were competitive and we had a nice visit.

I had a craving for sushi and this was the nearest location. I stopped in and the atmosphere was so cozy and quant. I enjoyed every bite. The menu said small plates but boy was I surprised when these massive plates of deliciousness came out. Enough for me to take home for another meal. Definitely will be returning

This restaurant is certainly one of the best restaurants in the area. Whenever I visit this place I am awfully pleased. They preserve their very high standard service and the topmost level of meals they offer. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

I love this place. I visit at least once a month. I recommend the Willis tower if you like your sushi a little spicy. They have a point system with FiveStar and it's great
