Great selection of rugs. The sales staff are all experts, having been in this family business their entire life. We have purchased a number of rugs, have used their cleaning services several times and had a rug re-fringed. This is a “go-to” business if you are looking for hand crafted pieces.
Albed ruined two of three wool Persian rugs I had brought in for cleaning. Inexplicably, the rugs are now missing pile and the webbing is exposed. They were in great condition when I dropped them off, I just wanted a deep cleaning to remove invisible dog dander for the allergic family member to better tolerate the rugs. I loved those rugs, and took great care of them. They were lovely, expensive, and in great shape at drop off. Albed seems to have sandpapered the pile off. My favorite one is truly trashed beyond redemption, the other can maybe be hidden under furniture (but why should it have to hide?). The third rug, though not ruined, is still dusty and smells a bit like moist wool. When I contacted Albed the owner replied that it’s my fault, I brought in old, filthy, and trashy rugs for cleaning. My rugs NEVER have layers of filth. They were neither old nor worn out in any way. I take good care of my rugs, they are investments. They had all of their healthy wool pile intact and fluffy four weeks ago at drop off. Mr. Albed was insulting and genuinely disinterested in taking responsibility for ruining them. He could not care less. I’m shocked. Do not bring valuable rugs there for cleaning. Next time I will do them by hand like my Oma did. I am astonished at the magnitude of what Albed did and how Mr. Albed handled it. What slobs! The rugs were beautiful before Albed touched them. Pics are on yelp. I hate to leave such a dunning review, but I paid 450 for Albed to destroy my rugs and imply that I brought in disgustingly filthy rugs. No no no no no. Not ok. No one would ever bring such trashed rugs IN for cleaning. They would throw them out. No refund, no apology, just insults and passing the blame. Very disappointed.
We took a beloved but not really expensive oriental to Albed Rug Company. We were greeted warmly. They spread our diseased rug out in the front of the shop. After much discussion between us and the knowledgeable staff we were told it just wasn't worth it to try and repair. We could see the problem. Ray Albed was able to find us exactly what we wanted--a smaller but very similar rug. It came in the next day. We are so thrilled with the rug and the service!!
