Just passing through the area and stopped for a bite to eat. I got the Tamale Plate, handmade pork and they were delicious. It was served with chilli & cheese sauce on top which isn't traditional but I'm a cheese lover and it was bomb. The beans had a hint of bacon which was fabulous. The rice wasn't very good. Taste & texture were like it was from a TV dinner. The green salsa was awesome. They offer military discounts but didn't know till after I purchased. If I'm driving through, I'll stop by again. Customer service was friendly.
Excellent place for some quick breakfast food. They not only sell breakfast but also sell food all day. Everything on the menu is excellent and delicious. All the portions are good and not lacking. Customer service is also always good. Come by and support your local restaurants.
Waited too long. I was told if I got frozen it would be faster but the girl went to back to get them and the other gentle man checked out 3 people getting hot tamales the same kind I was getting but frozen... Ugh hope they are good.
Good tamales with a very nice flavorful hot sauce. I purchased a dozen pork handmade and found them tasty with good filling and texture. The price was a little over double the price of the standard tamales, in my opinion a little/lot higher than reasonable. Overall I was happy with the quality but put off by the pricing structure. Good tamales but this area has a lot of competition and these (the hand made) do not warrant the price charged. I will purchase here again but limit to the standard style tamales.
I got their medium handmade tamale plate with pork and brisket. The tamales were flavorful but small. Keep in mind their handmade tamales are supposed to be their larger tamale size. The beans and rice were pretty standard. If the tamales were larger I’d say 5 stars. Clean restaurant and helpful, personable employees.
Decided to give it a try since it bares the good name of Alamo Tamales like my favorite one on Berry Rd. The tamales did not disappoint. Delicious, flavorful and moist. Gave them a 4 based on tamales alone. Tacos not so much. Small & pricey compared to my neck of the woods usual taco huts. Taco meats are thrown on top of the egg, not a classic mexican taco. The salsa fails on all levels. My daughter said taste like spicy greenbeans. Lacked flavour. Not sure of my return other than the 10 mins. it saved me.
Best tamales in Houston and I have tried them all!
