LOSW is a summer program for opera singers seeking a bridge into the German theater world. As a summer training studio, in the heart of the historical cultural center of Weimar, LOSW sets the well prepared singer on the path to establishing a career. The studio develops singers, through the performance of a fully staged Mozart opera, intense German language and diction coaching, master-classes, and individual coaching. The singer will be able to develop the necessary tools to audition and work as an artist in the most important sphere of Opera Theater, the German speaking world. Providing audition workshops with the opera dramaturge of the German National Theater, as well as specialists in German resumes, at the end of the program, the singer will audition for several German agents, and perform a fully staged opera for an audience in either the Volkshaus Weimar or in the 18th century theater at Castle Kochberg. Many of our alumni have had success in beginning a career as a singer in Germany. The staff consists essentially of European musicians who actually work in theaters, and are integrated into the system, as well as coaches and teachers from such renowned institutions as the German National Theater, the Finnish National Opera, Indiana University and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
