1 star is the lowest I can give but the \ advocate\ I dealt with most frequently seemed kind and friendly on the phone so I guess that's kind of accurate. However other then saying \ I'm so sorry you had to go through that....I'm so sorry your going through this .... \ etc... They helped with NOTHING. At. All. Well except to get my hopes up that there really is people out there who help you get out and get safe. They proved again that I couldn't count on anyone but myself. I constantly hear social workers at the hospital referr people there as well as community action and the housing authority. I have yet to see they do anything but string people along and make the situation they're in even harder. Sad, sad excuse for domestic violence shelter you could imagine. Heart breaking to think how many victims left their abusers only to return after promises of help only to receive NOTHING . Well...they're very good at platitudes.

sage is an amazingly wonderful place for people who cannot afford therapy or basic needs when they need them most. i’ve been visiting sage for almost 10 years, ever since i was 9 years old. they helped get cps involved when my siblings and i went through a domestic abuse situation, and more recently, have referred me for free to an emdr specialist for the ptsd that appeared several years later. please don’t pay the negative reviews any mind, because all the people who work there are genuinely compassionate and lovely people. they give out food and clothing to people who need them, do fundraisers, teach kids in schools, and are a much needed part of this community. the only complaint that i can think of is some shaky reliability when it comes to scheduling your first few appointments. once people recognize you though, this will be resolved.

Don't waste your time with these people, especially calling their crisis line. I called once when a family member was almost assaulted and was trying to seek out ways to help them. I was on hold and passed around by two people who couldn't figure out what the Hell they were doing. They put me on hold for 5 minutes because they couldn't find another crisis line phone number. I ended up hanging up on them. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline, RAINN, search Google instead! Those services have years of experience and know how to handle a crisis unlike SAGE.
