Experience was good except for initial contact with intake agent. She had poor customer service. My 16yr old was taking his driver's test and he was afraid that the people he would have to interact would have the same bad attitude. However, she was he exception. The agent inside was pleasant and helpful as well as the person who gave him the drivers test. Good experience overall.

I filled out my license renewal and real ID application online and scanned the needed documents in advance of coming to DMV. It helps to reduce the stress and time of getting this process completed! I spent an hour once I arrived at DMV-West Covina to do the final step of activation. There was a screener working the short line for appointments outside the building who checked to be sure I had all the correct documents in my hand. He was very pleasant and helpful. (Note- the line for non-appointments was long at about 8:30 am on the day I went). Once inside it is the usual processing of a DMV office. Safe spacing for COVID-19 is marked off with circles on the floor. All in all it was a good experience for a process that is required in order to drive and travel. Everyone did their job efficiently & politely at this DMV.
Its DMV... what can I say? My last visit here was to renew my driver's license. Did all I needed online before coming in. That really made everything smooth, despite the long wait. Really recommend doing as much as you can ONLINE before stopping by. However, I was able to witness the struggle the staff had with maintaining structure for everyone coming in.
This place is run about as well as you'd expect during a pandemic. There's about 5 different lines marked off, only two have signs marking what they're for. I was told to wait in 3 different lines by 3 different people, and they were all wrong. One woman let several people go in front of me despite me having an appointment. When I told her I was not only there before those people but I also had an appointment, she got real snappy with me and said I'm not \entitled\ to go anywhere. This is after she was told she had people waiting to take a driving test and responded with \they can wait a while.\ They also required me to take my mask off to take a new driver's license photo. I asked if they could reuse my old one because I have a medical condition that causes a high fatality rate with covid, and I was told they're required to take a new photo every time.
I completed my son's application online. The website told me to get there before 4pm and I would be seen. I got to the office at 3:36pm. There was no line but I was told we could not be seen because we did not have the paperwork printed out. There was no option to print the paperwork out. I was told I would have had to shown up before 2 to be seen. I went over to Whittier a 30 minute drive and I got there at 4:20pm. They looked at my paperwork and took me inside. I was at a window by 4:30. My son could not take his test because the paperwork had to be completed by 4:30pm. Which I understood because of the time restrictions. I told the clerk at Whittier what happened and the person said yeah, \West Covina is lazy\. If I didn't go to West Covina in the first place my son would have taken his test. I should have known better to here. Every time I go here the service sucks and the employees seem like they hate their jobs. I only went because I saw there was no line. Never again.
