My family has visited this restaurant for over 20 years, and this restaurant has consistently had good food. We prefer this restaurant to other Chinese restaurants in the area and in NYC Chinatown. Our favorites are the beef pan fried noodles Hong Kong style and the salt-baked squid. We also enjoy the eggplant casserole, sizzling beef, and moo shu pork. We often go as a family, but we have gone with groups of 10 at times for special occasions. We usually go for dinner, although we also go to dim sum on occasion. The staff are pleasant and polite.

Very low key Chinese resturant with good food. Food always seems freshly prepared. At first glance it may seem like the restaurant is closed but once arrive you’ll realize there is activity inside. Merchants are patient and helpful. Food can be pricey. Place seems clean but may need some updating.
China Gourmet has some of the VERY BEST Chinese food in all of North Jersey. Have been going there for decades, and always great food, both "traditional' dishes as well as specialty selections. I get take out dinners to drive an hour home with! Some of the staff are long standing pros that can guide you to a new favorite. Highly recommended.
I have dined at this restaurant for over 20 years. Some may remember when they had jazz night and live fish in the fish tank. Both sides of the restaurant and the bar were filled with customers. It was a happening place. Both the food and atmosphere was really great. Unfortunately, things do change. The jazz is long gone, and they no longer sit people on that side of the restaurant where the Jazz was played, I assume because there are fewer customers. The food, however, is surprisingly still pretty good. The shrimp fried rice, one of my favorites, is very, very good. I can tell you that the quality of beef is very good, not tough and chewy, like other places. The vegetables are always fresh and tasty. While there are fewer servers now, the remaining staff are pleasant and always accommodating. It's a good place to go for Chinese food. I eat out often. Looking around, it appears that many of places I have dined at over the years have fewer customers. I believe its the result of a changing economy, and that people have become more health conscious.
Looks like something was not right? We came in about 8 but it had no people inside but we tried to give them a try. Food came out a little long, salty and stale (the BBQ pork) but nothing was... good. I felt sorry for the owner of this restaurant and his wife, They really seriously need help. We saw no cook, no employee inside and outside to help the owner so we can tell what's going on. Good luck with their business
The go to place for dim sum in the afternoon! Love this place. Great service. Superb dim sum. And Teresa is full of infectious cheer.
Good Authentic Chinese Food without the MSG on most dishes. Dim sum is one of the best in the West Orange/Montclair area. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Service is attentive. Quick and Fast.
I have been eating here for years. Still very, very good to excellent. Great service, fair prices. An old fashioned, stalwart Chinese restaurant. It's as good as anything I get in the City. I think some of the bad reviews here are skewed and unfair.
