Initially, I was a huge fan of Greenland. The owner Jose, is a very nice guy and he showed me great work that he did. I received a glowing recommendation from my friends who used him for a similar (but smaller) job. Greenland did my patio and did a beautiful job except they did not grade it correctly so water now runs into my basement every time it rains. I asked multiple times during the work if I needed a drain and to be sure the patio was graded correctly. They do great work on landscaping but do not hire these guys to do contractor work for you on a larger-scale.

Unprofessional, immature & downright rude are “nice” ways of describing the owner, Jose. He does not stick to timelines & is extremely frustrating to work with. Do not bother using them, the small amount of money saved is not worth the stress. After they finished our patio & retaining walls, 9 months later we had to have parts redone because the columns were leaning & the pavers sinking. Not good quality, you pay for cheap work.
Jose and his team did a great job designing a perfect landscaping solution for our house in West Orange, NJ. We have a unique contemporary property on the hill that required unique landcaping to match. Prior to hiring Jose, we interviewed 7 or 8 lanscaping contractors, but none of them appeared to have the vision that Jose had. He worked with us through multiple design iterations, had lots of information and knowledge to share, including books & catalogs, and offered a number of excellent ideas that we woudln't even think about. Unlike other landscapers who were willing to plant whatever we choose whereever we choose, Jose suggested optimal plants for our style, budget and sun / soil conditions. He was always on time, kept in constant contact with us and completed the job within the agreed upon timeline. We were also impressed with the 2-year plant guarantee that gives us piece of mind going forward. After the completion of the initial project, Jose took time to stop by and check on the plants and sent out his crew a few times to do touch-ups without any additional charges. Given the level of service, we found his prices to be very reasonable and we look forward to working with Jose and his team in the future as we keep adding landscaping elements to our house.
