Been here twice so far, I'm a new homeowner and the guy behind the counter has been really helpful, very knowledgeable and willing to help. Prices are comparable to the big box stores, maybe a couple dollars more on average but nobody at home depot would have taken the time to tech me how to use an auger as well as draw a very helpful diagram of a tub drain. Or explain the difference between rock salt and mag chloride. Current covid set up is no browsing, just a front counter and the staff goes and gets what you ask for. I think this will be my first stop next time I need anything hardware related!

Im writing on behalf of my husband. We have tried our best to support all local businesses in the area but its become undoubtedly evident that owners of this establishment have a bias against people of color. We have tried our best to not draw this conclusion; however each and every time we have attempted to make a purchase or ask questions, we are treated like we just dont belong there.

Its nice to see local hardware stores, a rarity where I come from. So far, this we kept store has had everything I've needed for a reasonable price, with very friendly people working there. I'd much sooner spend my money here than Home Depot or other big brand hardware stores.

Think about this. You know those times when you just hoped someone at the hardware store would actually help you figure out how to fix things or actually do home repair properly? Thats Schneider's. I think every single time I came in with a fairly ignorant question on how to do home improvement, I got schooled here properly. Not in a condescending way, but that 'This Old house' kinda way. The Schneider brothers, should be considered a Living treasure by West orange. I've avoided hundreds of dollars in outsourced repairs and remedies thanks to their knowledge and professionalism. Patronize the store please, to help them keep them our our homes healthy!
