Better than I expected! The terrain is varied, with some flat carriage trails and some small rock stairs. I loved the falls and all the foundations around the trails.

John Burroughs Slabsides was a great hike. I went with my son and together we trekked through the rough terrain. Great place for kids, as they have lots of energy. The trail has many staircases and the trail markers help navigate the windy paths. Awesome view of the lake as well, forestry type of floor at Slabsides.

A wonderful hike and memorial to the man who knew and loved the area so well. You can feel as though you traveled back in time and are walking through the same trail as Burroughs did (although likely not barefoot, as he was). A small bin at the opening of the trail has a guest book and most recently had a copy of Walden for anyone to read as well

Lovely place full of natural beauty and a symbol of conservation and preservation for much of our nation's beauty.

John is a really nice guy. Had a cute squirrel on his shoulder.

Great walks in the woods. The were no people there at all. Wonderful cliffs, Creeks, ponds etc. Cabin is open rarely but you can look in the windows. Read signs carefully, lots of private property around.
