One of the best views of the mighty Ohio River. The hike is moderate on an intensity level and the trail was rerouted years ago adding switchbacks.

The trails were well maintained, there was little to no trash. And the view from the peak of raven rock is breath taking. Way too much history to not want to be up there and see it for your own eyes

Please oh please do not leave this area until you see the breathtaking view from this well preserved, historical landmark. Raven Rock is a diamond in the ruff. A rose among thorns. A needle in a haystack? Well I'm not sure about that last one, but no more boasting is necessary... I'll let the pics speak for themselves. (And just between us, I've not once seen an attendant checking for permits... Just saying)

This is an interesting trail. A moderately difficult hike rising about 500 to 600 feet. The trail is normally circular but as of July 2020 part of the trail is closed. This means you must hike the trail clockwise and then retrace your steps backwards after you reach the top. This section of trail is between 1 and 2 miles. As you are hiking that section of trail, you walk in and out of felled rocks from the mountainside and the trees occasional open up to reveal the river valley below. For the first bit of the hike, you can hear the cars on the highway below as you are walking the trail which may be unappealing to some. While the view is magnificent, the Raven Rock itself is smaller than you may be expecting. Lastly, as others have said, the entrance is deceptively placed. There's a small service road across from the high school with a very small parking area. A sign can be seen from the vehicle looking into the bush. The trail begins there.
