Staff are very helpful. I felt well supported in my first attempt to follow the computer prompts to register a laptop and seek extended time.

Lack of privacy, and intimidating atmosphere
Great exhibition currently open at the museum. Male woven art from maori artists.
Only commenting on the library as I haven't been into the exhibition center. Nice compact library for Whakatane. There is free wifi and computers to browse the internet. There is a wide range of books and subjects from which to choose and a kids corner with little tables and chairs - there's also a selection of audioCDbooks. There are plenty of couches & other reading areas and a couple of study rooms that you can book for a few hours. The library itself has self-service checkout/return kiosks but there are staff to help out if it gets busy. You can also 'borrow' ebooks and manage/renew your books online. All you need to join is proof of address (any letter or package label will do) and photographic ID.
Beautiful exhibits in the museum, and the library is clean and has some awesome kids stuff, and the staff are friendly!
Lovely centre with changing exhibitions, library staff are the most friendly and helpful people you can imagine. Good book selection also.
Relaxing, friendly staff, free WiFi and lots of books
Good exhibition center with Maori and European settler artifacts as well as local arts and crafts. There is historical and geological (earthquake and volcano) information also. It’s well displayed and has informative descriptions. It’s free (donations accepted).
