The best days fishing we have ever had. This guys a local skipper and knows the area well. He brings in the fish. I've been on a few character boats around Whitby and one or two of the skippers have no idea where the fish are. Some of them grew up in the Midlands and appear to follow the good, local, fishermen about. Tip: stick to local born and bred Whitby skippers from Whitby if you want a good days fishing.

What a fantastic experience!! We were booked on the same trip as Anthony Deacon and while I can confirm that the boat did leave later than expected the rest of his review is very unfair to say the least. We arrived at the quay side and Barry the skipper told us that due to an elderly guy passing out on the morning trip the boat the trip would leave later than expected. At no point did the skipper ever say the trip would not be going ahead, all he said was that it will go as soon as he can. Barry said he didn’t want to put an elderly man who had fainted on a bus back to Middlesborough!! After the wait we boarded the boat, Barry confirmed that all the people who had boarded were booked on but there were 2 people missing. Barry called Anthony to see if he was still coming on the trip (I don’t know what was said) but the skipper hung up and said he’s not coming so we set off. (we set of at approx. 1:30pm as ive got a photo from the boat of us leaving the harbour) We had a fantastic afternoons fishing we caught 3 cod which we were very pleased with as this was our first time sea fishing. Barry gutted and filleted our fish so we could take them home. We even saw a passing pod of dolphins which was amazing. I can confirm that the boat is not unsafe at all and that the trip was not over booked. We can’t wait to get back to Whitby and go fishing again we would not uses anyone else but Whitby Fishing Trips. Thanks Barry and see you soon!!

I attended on the same trip as the below review and thought id add some other insights into the day. I too travelled 3 hours with my 6 yr old son for his first fishing trip. Prior to the day, the skipper maintained excellent communication with me in relation to weather, tides, kit etc and i couldnt fault him. Upon arrival at the pickup point, the skipper informed me that he had had a medical emergency on the morning trip (i was on the afternoon one and the boat had just come in) in that an elderly gentleman had collapsed unconcious on the boat. The skipper advised that due this we may not sail as he was waiting for an ambulance and the weather was turning. It was clear the skipper took his duty of care very seriously and made me feel very content in his ability..as for all im trusting him to take my 6 yr old to sea! Yes as the previous review states there were lots of people about, but the elderly male was on his own and had no means of transport and had that been my member of family id of hoped, wanted and been thankful that someone was looking after him...and not just abandoned on the seafront. I explained this to my son who understood why we may not sail. The skipper kept us up to date and informed us that we would sail, just 30mins later than planned. A 30min delay was nothing to ensure the male was safe. The fishing trip set off and we caught fish!! The skipper was very knowledgable and helpful. Showing my son how to kill, gut and fillet a fish along with telling him about different species that were being landed. Dont let one bad review put you off what was a great trip, onboard a well organised boat, with a caring and knowledgable skipper. Ill be booking again without hestitation!

Terrible Experience! i turned up after a 3 hour journey with my 10 year old son who chose this himself as his BIRTHDAY PRESENT! to be told it might not be going ahead because a man fainted and he had to stay with him. The man was walking around and talking and very capable of waiting for the ambulance in the huge crowds of people walking around, it would have been quicker to get a taxi to the doctor who is open and available on the phone!!!!!. We was left wondering weather we would have to wait hours for a non emergency paramedic call out to arrive. Also he updated the medics to say he is walking around and fine which means they now wont attend to him for ages. By this time it would have been time to go home on our 3 hour journey back to Lincoln. Barry the skipper saw i had my son with me and that we had travelled very far, he even knew it was for his birthday but he didn't offer any reassurance it felt like i annoyed him with having an issue with him giving us no reassurance about the situation, it was like he enjoyed the drama. After he shrugged off the fact my son is now dying inside he just kept chatting to the guy who was apparently poorly, if he was so ill why didn't you sit him down? there were a hundred different options, and countless ways you could have given us reassurance. You was cruel and heartless and quite obviously didn't care one bit! ****** He also massively over books the trips, has an old tiny unsafe looking boat. Take a life jacket you'll probably need it!*******

Nothing special, can be a very expensive day out if you don't catch anything. Crew need to have a bit more motivation and energy, otherwise ok
