Really great experience at Trenchers. We needed a table for 5 which is difficult to secure in Whitby at the moment but as Trenchers only take bookings for tables of 5/6 we were in luck! We were seated on time on a large table and the staff were brilliant, they were really attentive and pleasant. The food was fresh and tasty, most of us had fish and chips which was delicious and perfectly cooked. The batter is dairy free which is great for me as a lactose intolerant person! One of our party had the crab salad which was the most impressive thing I have ever seen. Starters of chowder, crab, brie and calamari were all fantastic too. All servers were in masks and the restaurant is set out really well for social distancing so we were super pleased. Would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant!

Outstanding food and service. My seafood salad was delightful to look at and even better to eat. It had at least eight salad veg and five fruit, as well as six ample portions of perfectly prepared fish - a bargain at 15.95. The restaurant itself is beautiful, lit by art deco style lamps with plenty of mirrors. The washrooms are immaculate, with good supplies of nice smelling soap, hot water and an effective hand dryer. I couldn't fault this place - the staff are prompt, attentive and charming. Very highly recommended.
Good system in place for queueing (one for restaurant and one for takeaway). Ordered a takeaway and they give you a sturdy branded bag, napkins and plastic forks (always a bonus compared to tiny wooden forks!) Fish was really good, light crispy batter and good flavourful chips. We ordered it with tartare sauce, highly recommend!! Good prices and convenient location (opposite train and bus station).
The food was wonderful. Very friendly and efficient service. Nothing was too much trouble. Pleasant surroundings well laid out. That was our first time visiting as we were recommended it. It might have been our first visit but it certainly won't be our last. I visited there for lunch as it was my birthday and it really helped make the day that bit more special. Thank you
What a fantastic plate of fish and chips! Thin crispy batter over a couple of enormous cod fillets and accompanied by the best chips I’ve ever eaten: piping hot, crisp on the outside and soft and floury in the middle. Great mushy peas too. And all of this served by the nicest friendliest people you could hope to meet. A great experience.
