Took a house Martin to them today and I feel extremely happy with the care in which he will receive. Staff were lovely and very knowledgeable. Even took the time to message to inform me of his progress. Brilliant charity which are doing an amazing job

Whitby Wildlife is an amazing sanctuary tirelessly helping thousands of animals a year. No animal is too small or considered unworthy and they go out of their way to help anyone that has an injured, orphaned or simply unwanted animal. The sanctuary may not always be able to help directly i.e with rehoming pets or due to the distance (they get requests from all over the UK) but they will always signpost people to get appropriate help. The sanctuary is not open to visitors. It is primarily a hospital for sick and injured wildlife - anyone with any common sense would understand they cannot just show up and expect to “visit” with a WILD animal that is undergoing medical treatment. Especially during a pandemic when all premises are having to be careful about social distancing and maintaining safe environments. Not to mention the potential disturbance “visitors” would have on the the other animals in the care of the sanctuary. I have found Alex and her team of highly dedicated, unpaid volunteers have always been completely forthcoming. Answering any questions and replying to messages requesting updates at all times day and night. With hundreds of rescues daily it is no surprise that WWS cannot seek out and update individuals on an animal they’ve found especially when they have hundreds of animals arriving weekly. For this same reason not every animal is posted about on the WWS social media pages. As I say though they will always respond to direct requests for updates either by phone or by messenger. WWS is truly an incredible charity working non stop to provide the best possible care for all animals.

Lovely people in a lovely place. I found a racing pigeon last year who landed for a rest on my auntie's farm and unfortunately encountered the farm cat. He was a bit worse for the ware but after a bit of food and water he perked up. We named him Mr Poopers, and set about trying to find him a home. These guys took him in without hesitation and promised me he'll be allowed to live with other pigeons they have who can't fly (we were pretty sure his wing was damaged beyond repair). The place is really nice, and they have a caravan site too. There were healthy looking chickens wandering around the yard and the staff I encountered were really friendly and reassuring. I left Mr Poopers safe in the knowledge that he'll be well looked after in his new home ️
