It was a peaceful and calm trail! We walked about 1 hour to reach the lake.

Absolutely a beautiful hike. If it wasn't for the google map I wouldn't know about this gem.

Nice quick hike. Was muddy after heavy rain but totally worth it. Go early cz it gets busy.

One of those lovely short hikes, close to the city, but makes you feel much farther away. Not to difficult, a little climb at the start. The trail is well marked too

Great trail. 45mins up, 40mins down. We aren't overly fast walkers, and this included stopping each way to enjoy the view. Add additional time for stopping at the lake at the top. The path gets muddy and is not flat i.e. you have to step over rocks and tree roots so wear decent footwear. Not stroller friendly, or very young children unless you're prepared to carry them or go slow (it is a hiking trail and not a fully groomed path). This is an 'on leash' dog friendly trail. The hardest bit is the first 5-10mins which is uphill. After this is gets a lot easier and becomes more of a gradual, friendly climb. Phew! Once you turn off the gravel path, you're tucked under the trees for the rest of the walk until you get the lake (where it can get breezy). It is a really beautiful hike and extremely scenic, following along the stream in the valley below and surrounded by old trees covered in moss (no views out though). Personally I found the journey itself more enjoyable than Whyte Lake as it was overcast and a bit too windy up there the day we went. Whereas under the trees it was beautiful and a really enjoyable hike. The lake does say no swimming, but there is a jetty and a ladder into the water which is quite clear and clean (you can see the bottom in the shallows).
