Nice enough place, very rural and full of history. The "wilderness" is actually way back into the interior, accessible only by hike or horse. The "Wilderness Center" is actually a working farm, the last one in the valley (and therefore right next to the 'wilderness'). On a local (guided) hike, you can self-drag across the river on the old (refurbished) cable tram.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The owners are knowledgable and friendly. There is an abandoned farm house and waterfalls nearby with beautiful nature surrounding you. It was basically like sleeping in a museum, they remodelled the farm house and put all the floor boards nail by nail, have the old lamps attached to electricities with its wire hidden in the wooden beams so as to have the dormitory look as original as possible. Every bed can be changed from a queen sized bed to a single bed and they even have a really cool organ in the dormitory. If you want your own privacy they also have private rooms that are either in the old architectural or modern style. I was particularly impressed by their attention for details. Even the bathrooms are made to look like the old stable with, of course, modern facilities that blends with its surroundings. You walk out of your room and immediately surrounded by the beautiful valley. It's a great location to explore east fjords with many gorgeous hikes around. If I ever make my way back to Iceland, which I hope soon, I'd love to stop by and stay at this cozy place again.

I honestly couldn't post enough positive reviews about this place. Stay here and stay for more than 1 night. Woke up with fairytale farm land, a river, and sheep outside my window. The museum on site is actually pretty interesting, I thought it would be a little chintzy. The hike to the abandoned farm house with the pulley cart across the bridge is a perfect way to spend an hour or two. The hosts we're incredibly genuine and welcoming. We didn't eat there which I regret bc it smelled devine everytime we walked in the main room.

Nice and cosy place. I liked their dog, he wants to play a lot. Rooms where very nice and clean. The hot spring was warm and the viwes where very nice. Actually there is two hot springs and a smaller is more warm :) The owner/stuff where very nice and helpful. A lot of animals and birds! Sauna is great, made of local woof and sauna stove is from finland, so there is enough heat . Ride to there is easy and not so long. We liked staying there a lot.

Amazing place - the coffee, the food, the sauna, the hot pot, the museum - and above all, the atmosphere and the charm. Hygge, gezellig, cozy..whatever you want to call it :)

Absolutely gorgeous rustic cabin perfectly set in the middle of nature. Our host Danny was super sweet and very accommodating! I highly suggest staying here, they offer fresh baked goods in the morning as well! And a wonderful geothermal hot spring to relax in at night under the stars.

Small blast from the past place. We didnt spend much time there, but if you want to sleep in a old fashioned farm, and enjoy hiking, take a look. The drive was a bit long, and you cant make a round trip, but need to drive back all the way when you leave :( the man greeting us made a nice touch to the atmosphere :)
