What a fun place for the family! If you're visiting Williamsburg and want to go to the beach, but don't want to drive an hour to VA beach, there are several beaches on the James river. Jamestown beach is small, but nice, with a good number of shade trees. The water is a bit murky but totally swimmable, and great for kids as you can walk out hundreds of yards and still touch bottom. They have kayak rental and a small snack bar, both currently open. We had a good time!

FRESH WATER!!! What a pleasant surprise! Very secluded, we found this spot by happenstance, it definitely gave us a reason to return! PS the sunset was GLORIOUS!!!

My 1st time visiting and it was amazing! The beach was big, but small. Enough space to social distance and be social. I am going back. The water is not deep and will allow small children to comfortably swim and play!

A beautiful and quiet day at Jamestown Beach. All the kids have gone back to school, the humidity is down, tourists have gone home, so it's a nice quiet friendly Beach. Bathrooms and showers are still open so that's a plus. Sky was blue few clouds perfect day. I wish it were like this all year round.
