We contracted with Mr. Hoop to remove an old wooden dock and build a new metal boat dock. His crew knocked down our stacked concrete block retaining wall during the dock construction by dragging the metal dock support posts over the wall from our yard to his barge. But hey! He then offered to fix it for a mere 17k! Our boat lift HOWLS & SCREECHES when moving in either direction. It's a ghastly noise :( Once the water level dropped, it was apparent that he left FOUR wooden support posts from the old dock still standing in the water, a boating hazard! When I pointed this out, he brought his barge over and tied it up to our new dock. FIVE WEEKS LATER, HE MOVED THE BARGE, NEVER HAVING REMOVED THE WOODEN POSTS! Then to add insult to injury, six months after we paid Mr. Hoop 43K, we found out he had not procured the dock's inspection! We had to call for it ourselves and took off work to meet the city inspector on three different occasions. The city initially would not pass the dock because BOAT DOCKS MUST HAVE ELECTRICAL POWER -a fact Mr. Hoop chose not to share with us! ( We were using a gas generator to power our lift...) Once we paid our final contracted installment, Mr. Hoop chose not to return our phone calls. Tail light warranty, folks. Hire at your own risk!
