Takumi is located in Wilmington, United States on Independence Mall, 1601 Concord Pike. Takumi is rated 3.2 out of 5 in the category restaurant in United States. umi is a gorgeous Japanese restaurant. The dining area is extremely large and spacious, giving diners plenty of room to enjoy their meal. The interior is decorated with a contemporary flair, with modern looking light fixtures,a geometric pattern on the roof and front lit bamboo lining the walls. The tables are a stark black and white color scheme and the floor is divided between a lunch carpet and gorgeous hardwood around the bar. umi is a family friendly restaurant, offering a free miso soup every child that comes through the door. The menu is primarily made up of sushi offerings that are brilliantly plated with bright, vibrant colors and an artistic arrangement. In addition to the classic Japanese cuisine, Takumi also offers certain popular Chinese selections like teriyaki sirloin steak, beef stir-fry and orange chicken.

I have been getting sushi from Takumi ever since the pandemic began. I highly advise you do pick up vs having it delivered. Their pickup is very safe as your food is brought to you in a vestibule so you don't need to enter the building. The food and more importantly the sushi is amazing. It is a bit pricey, but completely worth it. I can't wait until I can dine in again. The Orange Blossom Roll is the best.

The first time I that I was here I new that I found the best Asian cuisine. Not only that, the service is very good and the atmosphere is perfect. Now I'm a regular. I find myself ordering different things that I have never tried before and I am absolutely happy with everything. I highly recommend this restaurant.

If you are thinking of eating in this place don’t trouble yourself. Our server was horrible! Our food was lukewarm and our dishes weren’t removed when ask. My wife ask for water and the dishes to be removed 3 times. The pace of the service was completely off. The only thing that we could eat was the Sushi. We should have known we were in trouble when we didn’t smell any food cooking. How do you mess up vegetables? Our food tasted like it was microwaved. We will never eat here again! We gave a 20% tip for food costing 111. It was nasty for the most part.

By far some of the best sushi in the area, plus a variety of other dishes if you're not looking for sushi. Adorable and welcome atmosphere and the friendliest staff in the area... by FAR. Highly recommend... we will be back

I can’t say that it met our expectations. The order of service was off. When you go to a restaurant you should receive your food in a timely fashion. The pace of the service was completely off. Our food was lukewarm. whatever finished eating the plates should be removed. “Right!?” That doesn’t happen here at all. My wife had to ask for her dishes to be removed three times. She waited for water and it wasn’t even crowded. I can’t believe nor understand how that happens. Plus the vegetables that were served tasted like frozen not fresh. We should have known our food wasn’t going to be bad when we didn’t smell anything cooking. We gave a 20% tip for food that costing us 111. It was truly a horrible experience! We will never come back again. The Sushi was good! It was the only thing that we could eat. I usually don’t give many reviews but, I felt that I needed to make others aware.

There’s really not a lot of options of sushi places in North Wilmington area, so when I found out about Takumi, I thought this place would be my go to place for sushi, though the price of the food here is quite expensive. I placed an order for pick up, 75 for 6 rolls. My husband went to pick up, and he’s very careful not to interact with anyone when unnecessary due to Covid, so he just went straight to the allocated pick up spot and grab the bag given to him. When I opened the bag at home, I was very shocked and disappointed to see that the restaurant only gave us 5 pieces of soy sauce packages. Spending 75 for 6 rolls is not a small amount of money and definitely deserves more than 5 soy sauce packages. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know my concern. The lady who picked up the phone didn’t acknowledge their mistake for being cheap with the sauce sauce, but answered this in their defense: “we don’t put a lot of soy sauce in the to go order because usually customers have a bottle of soy sauce at home”. So I answered: “Well, I must be a very unusual customer!!!“ and I suggested that she should put more soy sauce in the future because not all customers have extra soy sauce lying around at home and that due to Covid, I bet many people want to minimize contact, meaning they will just grab their order and go instead of lingering around to request things. This lady blatantly hates that suggestion. So I said I won’t be ordering from Takumi anymore. To my surprise, she said “that’s fine”. Seriously!!! I would rather drive 30 minutes and pick up my sushi order somewhere else than ordering from a place who prefer to loose a customer over soy sauce. I’ll never ever order from this place again!

I guess I’ll start by saying I ordered takeout from here. When ordering takeout you think it would be a lot easier process then dining in (especially in today’s circumstances), but no, not here. No signs indicating where you should pick up your food led me to step into the restaurant and analyze the packaged food sitting on a table. Immediately as I did so I was yelled at by the “chef” to get out of the establishment and wait outside where I stood with no sense of direction on where to get my food. After being yelled at by 1 of the only 4 people in this restaurant they assured me that my food had zero contact with gluten. Seeing as my girlfriend has celiacs, we can not risk even a crumb being in the dinner. We made sure to mention this in the online order notes and even after packaging the sushi together in one package they assured us there was not gluten contact whatsoever with out order. I’m assuming you can guess what happens next... she gets sick! On top of that the sushi was absolutely terrible... the salmon rolls wouldn’t stay together in your chopsticks and the shrimp tempura was tasteless. If you like getting yelled at while you eat horrible sushi be my guest and dine here.

We ate inside. It is super clean and sanitary. The food is superb! Service is excellent. We were happy to support this local business several times.
