Established in 2006, the Namibian Employers Association (NEA) is registered in term of section 57 of the Namibian labour Act 2007 (Act no. 11 of 2007) as the representative body for Namibian employers. Our main objectives include: Representation of our members at any level of arbitration Policy intervention and engagement with key stakeholders including government Remuneration and Employee benefits Promotion and networking among our members Traditionally, the Namibia labour market has been characterised by the master and servant working relationship. However, 28 years later and the scenario has gradually transformed. Moreover, it is undeniable that the persistent and widening inequalities experienced today has a lot to do with the level of engagement as well as the practicality of the legislature and policies resultant from the labour relations engagement process. Today, employer organizations are still traditional in their structure and focus - overlooking and/or excluding key stakeholders such as Government, International and Regional Development Partners, State owned Enterprises (SOEs) Civil Society (CS) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The aforesaid stakeholders are significant players in the labour market and largely influence economic growth through employment creation, foreign direct investment as well as conditions of employment. Central to our strategy, the NEA has adopted a holistic business model to become more inclusive and gain the critical mass in becoming the premier voice on employment matters, function more proactively and less reactive.
