Fred Zavadil is my woodcarving instructor. I started woodcarving a year ago. I had a desire to carve, but never did it before. Fred Zavadil is the most patient, knowledgeable, skilled teacher. He really challenges me and helped me achieve carvings that I never though I could do. His work is inspiring and beautiful. He is a self learned carver who uses chisels to create the most realistic carvings. His carving of Jesus brought tears to my eyes because he carved Jesus taking His last breath. All the muscles are so accurate. He studies anatomy to make sure every detail in his carving is realistic. He makes clay models of every carving as a guide and way to carve the wood. He has magic hands and a kindhearted personality too. I feel so blessed to know Fred and his wife Hana.
