Wiseair was born in 2018 from a team of young and talented students from Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Milano, who met during a top-class training path proposed by a collaboration between Alta Scuola Politecnica and Fondazione Agnelli. The idea grew out of the awareness that, despite the dramatic impact of urban air quality on our health and life, this problem is often underestimated and tackled with partial, ineffective solutions. The most peculiar feature of air pollution in cities is that it is a very local phenomenon whose intensity may significantly vary block by block, building by building. Nevertheless, the real-time measurement of contaminants’ concentration at a local urban scale is a complex challenge still left unresolved. At Wiseair we have developed an innovative and revolutionary technology that will lead to the creation of a dense urban network of clean, affordable and low-impact air quality sensors. This will enable a smart collaboration between single citizens, giving them the power to actively fight urban air pollution and drastically improve the quality of their lives.
