If you are looking for marriage counseling, I would highly recommend looking somewhere else. Our counselor was Stephen Parham Ph.D. and after multiple sessions I personally did not believe in him. He mostly spoke of the practices from John Gottman who is a well-known therapist and author and it was recommended that I read one of his books \The Man’s Guide to Women\ which I did. The book probably would have been good if I was in my early twenties and not my forties. Also, I have been with my spouse for over twenty years so I was a little surprised when he recommended this book. I thought hmmm... why now after all this time do I need a guide to understanding women? I am certainly not opposed to being open and learning something new, but I got absolutely nothing from this book. I felt that Stephen did not have good read on why we were there in the first place. I got to a point where I was just too emotionally drained and for the sake of my own health, I had to call it quits on my marriage and told them I will not be returning to this office anymore. If you feel that you are still thinking about seeing Stephen Parham then at least do yourself a favor and read some of John Gottman's books first since that is what he will mostly recommend. At least this way you can save yourself a lot of money if the books help save your marriage. Bottom line is that relationships do not have to be that difficult. Treat others how you want to be treated and if that doesn't work then move on and hopefully someday you will meet someone that will show you mutual respect.

I’ve seen Josh for 5 yrs. Found him via google search for “cognitive therapists” and was happy with his communication and service from day one. He’s a great listener and contrary to other therapists I’ve experienced, he empowers you to work through challenges yourself, (as opposed to giving his own biased advice and hoping it applies.) I feel like he’s made a major impact in my learning to cope with issues and I’m grateful for it. On a personal note...very warm, friendly and non judgmental. Highly recommend.

The staff is kind. I saw Joshua Brown for counseling after some difficult experiences and he helped me navigate those things, find strength I didn't know I had, and allow me to experience what it is like to be known and understood in a way that catapulted me to succeed in so many areas of my life. I recommend him to every couple or individual looking to experience a more authentic, vibrant, and fulfilling life. Josh is your guy.

Woodlands Family Institute has a diverse, well-qualified and caring team of professionals. The diversity of the team provides an ability to deal with a variety of issues. They have made very good recommendations for needs outside their immediate area of expertise. Their staff makes extra efforts to accommodate scheduling issues.
