I picked up a Squire Strat from a car boot sale for 50 quid. The electronics were a little on the crackly side, so I decided to upgrade the electronics (although was pretty close to thinking I might just cut my losses and stump up for a better guitar). After a bit of searching I came across Wrexham Guitar and gave them a buzz. After a good chat with Yan on options, he suggested I send my pickboard over and he would upgrade all of pots, switch and pickups (Tonerider Vintage Classic’s) and do all the wiring. A couple of days later, the upgraded pickboard arrived and the guitar is transformed. It sings like no 50 quid Chinese manufactured guitar has a right to - and I’m delighted I opted for the upgrade route. Found this place after searching for guitar repair people in the Wrexham and Chester area... nowhere was operating at a convenient time, place or location (understandable in some ways with the current Covid situation) which specialises in Ibanez guitars. I had made a bit of a mess of my Ibanez Jem setup, having earlier replaced the 5 way switch. The guitar had been working fine afterwards, but then had just randomly, totally died... I checked back over my earlier efforts and there was nothing obvious, like detached wires, so I was pretty worried that I had accidentally killed it.... one panicked visit to this place later, and problem was quickly resolved! Yan was superb. Knowledgeable guy, diagnosed the problem in a few seconds as a dry solder joint, and the guitar was fixed, on the spot, within a couple of minutes. I was so happy, I booked the guitar in for a full setup, which has just been completed. Very quick turn around, very efficient. The guitar plays incredibly now. Action is lower and faster than it's ever been, no string choking, trem perfectly balanced and full intonation adjustment. Price was excellent. Genuinely very pleased with this business. If you are looking for somewhere that will look after and sort out your guitars (he does all makes and models, not just Ibanez) at a very reasonable price, look no further.
My fender stratocaster kept cutting out when plugged in, took it to a big name shop who had it for 3 weeks and charged me 75 for repair. It was not fixed and just got worse, their advice was shocking. Booked an appointment with Valentine guitars and within 5 minutes of being with Yan he diagnosed the problem and gave it a top class repair also gave me fantastic advice. Highly recommend Yan for guitar repairs.
Booked in to install a new set of pickups and be given a guitar setup: service was fast and the guitar sounds much improved, with the pickup installation being flawless, and the neck plays better than ever after the setup.
