The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Society in the UK (ERAS UK) aims to improve patient recovery after surgery by promoting knowledge, understanding and research regarding optimal outcomes. In addition to facilitating networking between healthcare professionals across the UK, the society also runs and annual conference which focusses on specific themes relating to improving patient recovery. The first conference was held in Bristol in 2010 and concentrated on how to promote more widespread adoption of ERAS. In 2011, our conference was in Bath, where we covered how to measure and monitor outcomes, in particular patient experience. This year our conference was held in Cheltenham and the theme was 'meeting challenges'. Each event has attracted between 250 - 300 delegates from across the UK. We are particularly pleased that every discipline and profession involved in perioperative care is represented at our events. The presentations from all of our previous meetings are available in the members section of our website. Healthcare professionals who are interested in joining our society can do so via the website - there is no charge.
