I spoke to Ellie today on the phone and she was proof of the quality customer service I've come to expect of Plonkers I knew it was midday on a Sunday soon after lockdown had relaxed so at your average eatery, you would speak to extremely rushed and stressed staff but Ellie was fantastic. I'm sure she had work to be doing but took the time to help me swiftly resolve an issue in my booking and help me secure my first eat out meal since Christmas I've been there before and most don't need to be told, but of course - the food is fab

Brilliant little place Out of the way so never noticed it before Stumbled across it while sat having a drink on the river side The food here is amazing truly amazing Home cooked gorgeous food The rump stake is probably the best I have ever had for the price 14.95 8oz so on the small side but the quality is great and the chips taste stunning Seafood platter starter Great as a sharer or as an addition to a main course sourdough bread salmon calamari and prawns with sauces and rocket 12.95 wich seems high but for the quality it's worth every penny Steak and ale pie!!! Steak and ale pie expecting a small round pie when ordered boy was I wrong... Huge piece of pie crammed with beautiful tender and soft meat and stunning gravy thin and nicely balanced pastry crispy on the top soft at the bottom just like it should be :) chips again stunning and the peas was nice fresh and cooked right amazing value for money for amazing quality food have been here 3 times in the last week all ready and will be back plenty more in the future and would recommend everybody to try this place a real hidden gem
Great wee bistro both inside and outside to sit at the river and have your drink or meal. Really attentive staff and very helpful, I was here two years ago and twice this year while on holiday. I am on oxygen 24/7 and struggle going upstairs, A table was made available on ground level....the girls are all hardworking and very pleasant to talk too (and look at :) ) Would defo recommend .
Great bar, always my go to place for a lunch time meal in York.

Amazing tea tonight in a lovely little pub. Great home cooked food and lovely staff who could not do enough to help. Kebab was amazing! Would recommend to people visiting york.

Lovely food. I believe it was the owner who took my plate and serviette away from me before I had even finished my lunch. I think she wanted more bums on seats. I could then hear her question the staff how many drinks we ordered. My husband had beer and I was on tap water she assumed I would be drinking alcohol as well. Oh dear she must be worried about the profits
