Paid a deposit of 300 and naively transferred it by direct bank to bank transfer at her request. This meant I was not covered by visa to retract the money. Reported her to Action Fraud and would advise others to do the same.

Having known Mandy through previous work I was happy to order my wedding dress through her - which is what I did last July. Or so I thought. I paid her half of the money as a deposit and over the next 5 months she assured me more than once that it had been ordered and even gave me a delivery date. However the delivery date came and went and all of a sudden I could no longer get in touch with Mandy - I tried email, telephone, text, facebook, linked in, posting a letter, visiting the shop..... nothing. I then found out the shop had closed so I contacted the designer of my dress directly only to be told that Mandy had never ordered my dress and it had in fact been discontinued. So now there is no chance of me getting it. Fortunately I have time to find a new dress before the wedding but there may be brides in the same position who don't have that time! We are now in the process of trying to claim the money back through our credit card as I have no hope to get it back from Mandy. Had I not been organised and chasing her I would still be none the wiser and believe that my dress was on its way! For her to treat customers like this is disgusting - she has basically stolen peoples money and told blatant lies to cover her own back. Do not trust any business she is involved in.
Hi - I ordered dresses in October and haven't received any response to emails or phone calls since January. I came across these comments today and am so upset. I've sent a final email to Mandy to ask if the rumours are true and if so I will be taking legal action. I don't anticipate a response from Mandy but I did ask for the name of the dresses I ordered and the supplier name so I could deal with them directly. Does anyone know of any supplier names?
**WARNING BEWARE** We ordered a bridesmaids dress from Plush Bridals, Angram, York! An atrocious bridal service. Mandy, a woman who owns her own company, looked very professional from the outside took our money of a deposit, told us that a bridesmaid dress would soon be arriving just 2 months after deposit made. Numerous contacts via all methods of communication were unsucessful. E-mail full, not responding via social media, phone answermachine always full unable to leave messages. Two personal visits involved her saying the dress was on its way & she would sort out her communication problems in a few weeks. Second visit involved her saying she would e-mail the manufacturers to find out where dress was as it was the Christmas period. "They know what they are doing, you don't, don't stress" she told us. She had lies written all over her face and we decided to order another dress from elsewhere, 3 weeks before our big day. As our wedding day came and went & still no dress from Plush we contacted our bank to get our money back using chargeback. We did our own research & found she had never even ordered the dress from the manufacturer. We later discovered her business was in the process of closing down at the time we ordered the dress, yet she still took our money but failed to place the order with the dress manufacturer. We have written proof it was never ordered. We don't know how she manages to sleep at night stealing peoples money. But more importantly. Giving false hopes to those who just want to have a happy day, a once in a lifetime memory. What made it worse was that our story was a unique one both of us had organ transplants & we'd told her this. How sad you can operate your business in this way. Whatever, your circumstances. You do not steal, lie or give false hope to those wanting to live a dream.
Mandy Melka couldn't have been nicer when we went to see her last October and I ordered my dress. I received an email from her in Jan advising that she was closing the business due to ill health, the supplier would be in touch re delivery and final payment etc. I waited about a week and then contacted the supplier to be told that they had received no payment for the dress, nor had they heard from Mandy to say that she was closing the shop. I tried calling, text, email, facebook, signed for letters but no response. I have also contacted citizens advice who have passed the matter to trading standards. From searching on google, it seems that she has done this before, she was running a nursery Big Blue House Day Nursery at Stamford Bridge and it was closed down due to cash flow problems (and another nursery run by her, Jubilee nursery at Bishop Burton College). I am not getting married until September so I have time to find another dress if needed, the worst part is trying to get this out to more people, other brides who might not be aware that there is a problem. And even worse, she can open up somewhere else and do this again...
Good initial service but boutique closed before bridesmaids dresses arrived. Now over a month later than should be and no emails, phone calls being responded to. I am three months from my wedding day with no dresses and 50% of money paid up front. No details of supplier given so unable to go directly to them. Can't just take money and offer a service to people just to disregard them later. Even if the business closes orders should be followed up on. It's stress that brides can do without!!
Have experienced absolutely shocking service from Plush. My friend's wedding dress was supposedly ordered in August for delivery in December, we've been chasing and chasing and only found out that Plush had closed last week when we looked on the site. We've had zero response on the now deactivated Plush Facebook page, the phone number and email address. We've even been to the shop to see if the owner has bothered to leave contact details but there's nothing. My friend has already paid half the amount for her dress. It's disgusting that when shutting down a business, it would not cross the owner's mind to contact her customers. Customers who have been promised delivery and have already paid half. It's always sad when a business closes, but there is NO excuse at all not to contact waiting and paying customers and causing so much distress.
