Stayed for one night and it was great. I called to get a room an hour before getting there and the owners were very accommodating, they even turned on the lights and aircon in the room prior to our arrival. The rooms are clean and modern. Would stay again.

We stopped for lunch at this place during a long drive through the the wheat belt. We where pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of the meals. The hotel has a pleasant ambience and was designed old fashioned with quirky modern decorations.

This is more of a response to the owner who decided to insinuate that my wife was disingenuous and had lied. You have a nerve to say that something so personal and difficult to go through was overstated! I do hope that you do not have any family members or friends go through what we have because it is awful. This has highlighted the lack of empathy and compassion on your part. I don't care about the money and I never asked you for a refund. We called you on the Friday (not the Saturday, as you claimed in your response to my wife's review) to see if we could reschedule our booking (not cancel it) which you were not willing to do. You also did not offer us a refund if you relet the room, but merely an undefined "percentage" of our costs. We responded to Saul on the Saturday when he messaged us, saying we would not be coming. We did not just not show up. I did reach out to Saul via text to address this matter but you have made the business decision to ignore that too. As a business you could have approached this better than you have. It is clear to me, and others, that money is your priority and not building relationships to support your business or being supportive towards your customers. I will not be recommending you based on your behaviour and will instead recommend for others to avoid your hotel.

We stayed in the Lord Forrest Premier room. Very, very spacious, clean and comfortable. Massive bathroom area and balcony was a bonus. Hopefully, the restaurant will re-open as it would be so convenient to have one in the same complex. Definitely would stay again.

This hotel is both a restaurant and provides accommodation. Some rooms are in the main historical building while others are in a newer annex. I was in the annex and it was comfortably furnished all although I wish they wouldn't provide 'single use' shampoo/conditioner. I had dinner in the restaurant which was packed on a Friday night. Service was good and just slow enough to convince you that the food was cooked from scratch. I had the grilled Barramundi and creme brulé. Both were good although I felt the main lacked seasoning and a wedge if lemon would have been nice. While I understand making the creme Brulé in advance I wish they had applied the caramelised sugar on demand so that it wouldn't be entirely refrigerator temperature. I have no idea why they dusted it with icing sugar, I can only assume a momentary lapse of judgement.

My husband and I found out the day before our booking that we were potentially about to lose our third baby in a row. We called Nola and asked if we could postpone our stay as we weren't in the right headspace for a holiday. We didn't ask for a refund as we knew that would be unfair on her. We explained why, but she refused. She said the only reason she hadn't charged us the full amount was because our credit card had been cancelled (due to being hacked) so she had only charged us one night so far. We asked if we could come and stay for the one night since she was going to charge us for it anyway, and she said if we showed up she would charge us for both nights regardless of how long we stayed. I understand that she is running a business, but a little bit of compasion and understanding goes a long way in relation to customer service. We will never stay here again, and after sharing our experience with others, they have said the same thing.

Really enjoyed our time in York. The staff were fantastic and Max allowed us to have some dog time.

Visited for Mother's Day, wow! All staff on (including Nola the owner) were friendly, accommodating, respectful, funny and this made the experience at 'Alice at The Palace' restaurant simply amazing. Food was fantastic, filling and well priced and a really nice ambience and vibe to the place. Will definitely be returning
