Soundview Preparatory School is a place where students can feel free to be themselves. Where they can improve their academic studies in a safe community of people who are both intelligent and kind. What keeps the Soundview community so closely knit is easily Assistant head of school Ms. Ivanyi. She goes out of her way to make sure that new students feel included and that all the students support one another. Soundview is a place for dedicated students are comfortable to be themselves and capable of reaching their academic potential.

As a teacher at Soundview I find it is the students who make this school special. They are interested and engaged in classes and have a thirst for knowledge. It is a place to teach where the brilliance of your students push you to "do more" and "learn more." Ms. Ivanyi as an administrator is highly supportive to the teachers and students in fostering academic rigor and a comfortable environment in which to learn.

I went to Soundview for four years. I graduated last summer. Being at Soundview was one of the best experiences of my life. This school has the most caring and thoughtful teachers that I've ever met (and my mom is a teacher so I've grown up around teachers). The music and art programs here are incredible. I came into music class in 9th grade with no confidence at all and left in 12th grade singing on a song in front of the whole school. This is a school where you won't fall through the cracks. They do a great job in preparing you for college. Honestly if there is one thing you could take from reading this review is that I didn't enjoy going to school before Soundview. Soundview made school fun and gave me a safe and happy place to go to.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. I went to this school for 4 long dreadful years. At the beginning, I was a happy kid, by the end of was suicidal and developed major depression that I will need to be in therapy for the rest of my life. I beg you, parents don't send your kids here.

why would you even bother sending your kids here when you can send them to Horace Mann, Masters, EF Academy, Fieldston, Hackley and many much more prestigious private schools than here. You are better off going to Mount Vernon High than here.

Soundview Prep is an amazing school that nurtures a student and provides limitless opportunities for them to grow and experience new things. All the teachers are always willing to talk and help you, even if you don't actually have them as a class that year. Soundview's administration also does amazing work with Ms. Iyvani and Dr. Cotrone at the forefront keeping everything in working order and all the students doing the best things for them. Without Soundview I would not have become the young man that I am today and I can say wholeheartedly that I would do it all again without a single change.

Our son attended Soundview Prep School for 4 years, graduating in 2016. In all my dealings with Mrs. Ivanyi I found her to be helpful, supportive and very professional. Indeed, her diligence and devotion to the students and the school were always clearly evident. We were very pleased with the education our son received at Soundview. He had many wonderful teachers who set high standards, and encouraged and helped their students meet their goals. Under Soundview's tutelage our son grew into a confident, well educated, self-possessed, mature young man, and we are very grateful for the role Mrs. Ivanyi played in than. Eileen and Ed Sinnott

Save yourself the heartache and don't even consider sending your child to Soundview. It scares me that this "prep school" is still in business. Yes, that's what it is, a business. And what a horribly run, corrupt business it is. I graduated from high school a few years ago (not from Soundview!) and still talk to former classmates about what a terrible joke this place is. Many of the teachers are mean, petty people who will make your life miserable and harass you if they don't like you, and nothing can be done about it. Not to mention most of them can barely teach. Soundview likes to say it's good for students who need an "alternative" education but the truth is that Soundview is extremely unequipped to deal with kids who need extra attention, which unfortunately is much of the student body. They desperately need a school counselor. In fact, I would say all of the administration and most of the faculty have no idea how kids/teenagers act or think. I was completely unprepared for college after wasting most of my high school years at this place. I beg you not to be fooled by the sociopath Mary Ivanyi's act and avoid giving your hard earned money to this ridiculous excuse for a school. SAY NO TO SOUNDVIEW! Edit, 10 months later: Nice job, you guys. You got your teachers, students, and even parents to write eight glowing 5-star reviews for you, within a span of about 2 months, just a few months after I posted mine. What a coincidence! Also, I heard you finally got a school counselor. Congrats! Too bad she has no confidentiality policy, and tells Ms. Ivanyi everything that students divulge. That's what I've heard, anyway. Now all Soundview needs is a real nurse (who isn't an emotionally abused science teacher; so glad to hear she got out of there), and they might just be well on their way to becoming a real school!
