Honestly this was such a great week - don't hesitate to get in touch with Peter at TAG for him to design the type of walk/ bike/ kayak trip that will suit your ability and time commitments - it is so worth it. I combined a 3 day bush walk with a 3 day bike ride having a rest day at Yungaburra in between - it really was one of the best holidays I've had in a while. I started with a bush walk - tropical rainforest walking, it's a different world under the canopy - it was beautiful - challenging but achievable. Tall ferns and crystal clear water. We had to amend plan A (Mt Bartle Frere overnight camp) due to inclement weather which mean’s we didn't have to carry our full packs, instead did day walks, sometimes you get lucky! Rest day at Yungaburra - great little town, lovely walk along the creek, cosy cafes and good coffee. Next the 3 day Lappa trail bike ride. Spectacular Aussie outback - crisp blue skies and red hills, wide-open landscape dotted with gums, winding gravel roads (without corrugations). Peter knows and loves the area and was a great guide showing us precious indigenous rock art and informing us of the local history. We saw areas of natural beauty - which helps me understand why they are indigenous "sacred places" they are just naturally beautiful places. Cute little critters live there too - rock wallabies and bower birds, it just makes you smile. Yep all that and the comforts of home - scrumptious food, coffee, wine - great bikes, gear and transport and the loveliest family that runs the Tableland Adventure Guide tours.
