Hotel Cecil is a quiet, relaxing hotel in Zeehan. Offers a cosy room (very quiet and warm) and a restaurant with Asian influenced meals. Try the prawns with ginger and shallots. Also turn up Jimi Hendrix on the jukebox with all along the watchtower, and play a game of pool. Good fun.

Booked months in advance. What ever you do don't pay in advance and go elsewhere. I have reported the place. We turned up only to find out there was no accommodation, but we weren't the only people they had done it to that weekend. We ran into a group of bikers that had to travel to another town because they were in the same boat and had no accommodation and when we were having breakfast the next morning at the place where we found accommodation a group came in asking if they could get accommodation later that night because Cecil had no accommodation for them that they had booked. They didn't even have the decency to let us know that day. So besides the reports that have gone in about this place I ain't got a nice word to say about the place. I was given an excuse when we turned up and when I phoned I was given another excuse. Upon entry via the main Rd the place was derilict and you could have robbed the place as there was no one in sight. Food people had looked atrocious and I'm sure the only people to give it more than one star haven't been anywhere else. Make sure you have a back up plan.
Wonderful staff, great food, friendly locals and fabulous night out at the beautiful Gaiety Theatre. Thank you Hotel Cecil and Zeehan.
Great atmosphere, I met some cool homeless dudes around the corner who offered me some crack. It was great
t is a run down old pub, comfortable beds, excellent food. If the interior and exterior of the pub matched the hospitality and service of the owner and staff it would be a 6* establishment
Zeehan is a struggling ghost town, yet people have found comfort here. We chose to eat at Hotel Cecil rather than the Oasis down the road. We'd rather support a locally managed pub than a hotel chain, which preys on the poor through integrated gambling - surrounded by EGM's and Keno in a bistro style dining area. The Oasis chain of hotels or Federal Group has lobbied the government to achieve govt. gambling policy in their favour, sucking the life out of towns like Zeehan and posting huge profits away from the township and into the concentrated family of the mega wealthy (who do not even live in Tasmania). Hotel Cecil, on the other hand is owned and managed by a local migrant family, originally from the Philippines. The food is great value and accommodating. The entrees and sauces are 100% home made - the best curry puffs and spring rolls we have had! The chicken satay sauce was delicious and an easy win on the home-made front. Not typical Aussie-country pub food, however pleasantly surprised, impressed and much, MUCH better than the usual serving of pub grub.
Fantastic food with top notch service. May be an unusual menu, but it offers all the classics alongside an fantastic asian inspired menu. Highly recommend the thai beef salad!!
The food was delicious everything was perfect.Lovey old pub and the service was 10 out of 10.
